If you are interested in attending New York Harbor School, you should:
The higher on your interest form you rank us, the better your chances of being accepted.
New York Harbor School will admit approximately 115 students each year, including around 10 incoming 10th graders, from all 5 boroughs.
Harbor School seeks students who have a special interest or aptitude in Marine Science or Marine Technology. Harbor School is looking for students who have a strong work ethic, a sense of adventure, and the desire to learn more about the role New York City waterways plays in the development of the local community and the global society, both historically and today.
In order to meet interested students, Harbor School reaches out to many middle schools and holds several open houses. You may register for an Open House online. Open Houses are held on Wednesday afternoons. The ferry departs from Manhattan at the Battery Maritime Building at 4:15 pm. On your visit, a student representative of the school will give you a tour of the library, the aquaculture lab, the marine systems technology workshop, and the rest of our new facility at Building 550 on Governors Island. You will also have an opportunity for Q & A with a representative from the Admissions Team. Open Houses will continue to be scheduled through the application season. For an updated Open House schedule, please email admissions(at)newyorkharborschool.org.
