What is the mission of New York Harbor School?
Our mission is to use New York's maritime experience to create a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum that instills in its students the skills and ethic of stewardship.

What do students learn at Harbor School?
Maritime means "of or related to the sea." We use New York Harbor as our laboratory for helping learn the skills and content needed for going to college! We swim, row, sail, navigate and study the waters of New York while still preparing to go to college.

Who applies to Harbor School? Eighth graders who have special interests or aptitudes in marine science, marine technology, or anything related to water; and who are willing work hard and try new things.

Who works at Harbor School? Teachers who deeply believe that all students can succeed; that New York City youth have the right to access New York Harbor; and that the marine environment is an ideal place to teach students academic and social skills.

Who supports Harbor School? Individuals, businesses and organizations that care about innovative public education and our city's rich maritime history.
