DO
WE
The Urban Assembly New York Harbor School is located on Governors Island; the heart of New York Harbor. The school is accessible only by ferry and offers a unique, on-water learning experience. Students learn to build and operate boats; spawn and harvest oysters; design submersible, remotely operated vehicles; conduct real-life research; and dive underwater.
They also go on trips, tour colleges, hear and learn from experts in science and industry and participate in the schoolβs on-going oyster restoration research program, The Billion Oyster Project.
WHAT
DO
WE
The Urban Assembly New York Harbor School is located on Beautiful Governors Island the heart of New York Harbor. The school is accessible only by ferry, offering a unique, on-water learning experience for all its students.
Our students learn to build and operate boats; spawn and harvest millions of oysters; design submersible, remotely operated vehicles; conduct real-life research; and dive underwater. Students go on trips, tour colleges, hear and learn from experts in science and industry and participate in the schoolβs on-going oyster restoration research program through The Billion Oyster Project.
OUR
STUDENTS
The student experience at Harbor School is defined largely by how often and to what extent students take advantage of what the school has to offer. From the moment students arrive, they are invited to participate in the schoolβs unique on-water programming.
