Join us for a celebration on the water at The Oyster House at Pier A, overlooking the New York Harbor School and Governors Island. Enjoy oysters from select farms, light bites from The Oyster House, and libations from top-shelf vendors while listening to live music and celebrating the achievements of the school and its students. Guests will also be treated to games designed by Harbor School Students based on their Career & Technical Education Programs.
Proceeds raised from Harbor Up! will help support the New York Harbor School's Career and Technical Education programs, waterfront operations, and after school programs and activities.
HARBOR UP! Celebration
September 17, 2019
Get treated to the ultimate oyster experience as we celebrate the movement to restore NY Harbor and our local marine environment. Mingle with 50 oyster farmers who will be shucking and serving their delicacies and enjoy bites from 20 of NYC’s top restaurants while learning about oyster culture and restoration. Speak to NY Harbor School students about their work on the Billion Oyster Project. Finally, wash it all down with brews, sodas, spirits and wines from local partners while watching the BOP All-Star Shucking Championship!
Proceeds from the event will support the four program areas of the Billion Oyster Project: Oyster Production, Reef Construction & Monitoring, Shell Collection, BOP Schools, and Public Engagement. Each program stands alone as an important advance in ecosystem restoration and public education. Together they make up our Harbor and City wide project that will have a dramatic impact on ecosystem health as well as public awareness, understanding and appreciation of NY Harbor.
